Float Maintenance Guide

Guidelines to keep your float looking great and ensure you meet warranty conditions

  • 12 Volt Power - If your float is fitted with a 2 way fridge and water pump, these are powered through the trailer plug.  Your vehicle must be equipped with the correct wiring to achieve this.  Please contact your auto electrician to ensure that your vehicle is wired correctly.

  • Tyres - Tyre pressure should be at 45 psi

  • Jockey Wheels - The jockey wheel is to lift the float up and down to allow coupling to your vehicle.  It is NOT designed for moving your float on.  Trying to move the float on the jockey wheel will cause permanent damage that will not be covered by warranty.

  • Rubber Floor - The floor, walls and tailgate of the float are covered by rubber.  It is important that it is well maintained.  Once a month check for signs of wear or damage to the rubber or sealed rubber edge.  Any damage must be attended to immediately, any gaps must be sealed immediately.  Failure to to so will result in water getting into the area under the rubber causing damage.  This will not be covered by warranty.

  • Keep you float clean inside - Clean out horse urine and manure after each use.  Ensure all surfaces are kept clean and in good order.

  • External care - It is important to maintain the outside painted surface of the float. Ensure the float is washed and waxed regularly.

  • Storage - Ideally storage undercover in recommended due to the harsh UV experience in the Australian climate.  Covers are beneficial for the float should you not have access to internal storage.

  • Kitchen door latches - All latches and hinges are adjustable. If latches are still they can be adjusted with a flat head screwdriver or apply lubrication.

  • External latches - The recessed handles are adjustable.  Should you find that they are too tight are loosen off they can be adjusted using a 17mm spanner.

  • Windows and Tie Up rings - It is important to check your float for any water leaks that may appear due to movement of the float and normal wear and tear.  If a water leak is found it is important to rectify this straight away to avoid and damage to the paintwork or structure of the float.  Failure to do this will void the warranty.

  • Bearings - The bearings of your float must be maintained regularly.  The bearings must be checked and adjusted if necessary at the 1500km service. Bearing maintenance, including removal, inspection, greasing nor replacing if necessary should be conducted regularly by a licensed mechanic or service person.

  • Electric brakes - The electric brakes operate from the controller that is wired into your towing vehicle.  Please refer to your electric brake controller for operating instructions.  The brake pads should be checked for wear and adjusted id necessary by a licensed mechanic or service person.

  • Suspension - The bushes on the rocker roller suspension must be checked once a year your wear and replaced if necessary.  There are pins that need greasing regularly and should be done every time the float is serviced.  Check all U bolts and nuts during servicing.

  • Failure to maintain and service the horse float following the recommendations outlined may result in damage to critical components of tour horse float and will result in warranty claims being denied.
